Love Our Mornings

I always look forward to the mornings on days that I'm not working. That's because it means I get to spend my mornings with my little girl and I love every single minute of it, even though she would wake up at 5 am on most mornings. No more sleeping in for this Mummy!!! Gosh I really miss them LOL.

Normally I would try to put her back to sleep after breastfeeding her if she wakes up before 7 am. If I'm lucky, she will goes back to sleep and maybe wake up after 8 am :) I will then definitely considered that a sleep in!! Woo hoo!!

I like to take my mornings on the slow side and not do too much. We will have our breakfast together and after that, we will do some bonding time like read some books or play with some toys. Sometimes, we might not even do any of that but just enjoyed being silly in front of the phone camera.

What are your mornings like?

Rolling All Around In The Deep Blue Sea

Rolling all around in the deep blue sea,
Roll, roll, roll, roll, roll around with me.

I think that's how the baby rhyme goes. It is just one of the baby rhymes that I sing almost every week during my daughter's swimming lessons. Of course, I am not alone in singing in these rhymes. There are other mothers, fathers, grandfathers, etc. But most important, all the kids hare having fun, well, except that there's always one kid who are a little bit more afraid of the water compared to the others.

I have been taking my daughter to swimming lessons when she just turned 3 months old. I was so glad that friend told me about these swimming classes. Who would have thought that there's classes for babies that young? As I was born and grew up in Malaysia, I remembered I was only about 5 years old when I went for my first lesson!! And I was terrified!!!

I have heard before that babies love water because it reminds them of their time back in the womb. I didn't really know what to expect when we took our daughter for her very first lesson. It was done in an indoor heated pool in our local community aquatic centre.

As you can see from her expressions above, she absolutely love it and had so much fun!! We've been taking her for swimming lesson every week during the school term since then, whether it's summer, autumn, winter or spring. Now, she's learned to splash water on her own, kicked her legs in the water, and even go under the water for a few seconds!!

My husband took a video of her going under the water last week. For the first time, I can see her facial expressions clearly when she's in the water. How amazing is technology nowadays!!! I love how she's blowing bubbles when she's under the water. She's such a cutie pie and always melts my heart. However, I must admit that I did put her under the water a just a tiny bit longer than usual because I my husband was recording it. Poor little darling drank a little water and came up coughing a little. Oooops. Bad mummy and daddy.

Since Australia is one of the strongest swimming nations in the world, maybe one day, she might represent Australia in swimming???!!! Now that's wishful thinking :)

Feeling Like A Sick Cow

Yeap, you read that right. I was feeling like a sick cow the last few days. Sunday was definitely the worst day of all. I woke up with whole body ache, shivering and my left boob was engorged, hard, red, hot and painful!!! I was in agony.

First thing that popped into my mind was "mastitis". I've never had it before but I've heard from my friends that the symptoms are similar to flu. Oh dear...Luckily my DH was coming home that day and took me straight to the doctor, who confirmed that I was having mastitis. Ugh...antibiotics to the rescue!!

Let me tell you straight. Mastitis definitely feels a lot worst than the common flu. Mothers who breastfeed their children, I really admire all of you. I think I deserve a pat on my back as well too. My breastfeeding journey wasn't an easy one at all. In fact, it started out terribly and went downhill the first month itself. There were lots of pain, tears and blood. However, if you asked me again, I am willing to go through it all because I want to give the best I can give to my dearest daughter. She absolutely means the world to me.

I'm feeling much better now and I think the blocked milk ducts are almost cleared. On a lighter note, here's a video that I came across recently, and I absolutely loved it. It kinda sums up how we (breastfeeding mothers) feel sometimes when we're breastfeeding our child in public because occasionally, we do get the dirty looks and muttered comments of disapproval from the public unfortunately.

Happy Valentine's Day

1 Corinthians 13:4
Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant.

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!!! Those of you who are out and about celebrating this special occasion, I hope that it will be a night to remember and that you get spoilt by your loved ones.

As for me, DH and I never really celebrate Valentine's Day and furthermore, he's not around at the moment. What do I do on this special night? My LO is fast asleep, house chores can wait until tomorrow, nothing much on TV...guess it's time to take out the Christmas chocolates!!!

I'm loving these Lindt Lindor balls. My favourites are definitely the Milk and Hazelnut because I'm not a fan of the Dark or White chocolate. Think I'm going to be a good girl. I'm just going to have two :)

Anyway, I’m going to keep it short and simple for this very first post. Thanks for dropping by and I look forward to see you soon.
